Master in Counseling

“Life is a collection of stories… your stories. They shape you, mold you, but they do not need to define you. I believe in a holistic approach – mind, body and spirit. I am here to help you be the best person you can be. The person you always dreamed you could be.”

We all experience life differently. For Shaun, his passion for helping others comes from personal experience. In his early days, Shaun turned to food for comfort. Over the course of his adolescence, he reached a weight of over three hundred and sixty pounds. He was morbidly obese. He developed high blood pressure, anxiety, depression and the beginning stages of diabetes. Shaun felt isolated from the world.

Shaun had to go to specialty stores to purchase his clothes. He couldn’t walk up three stairs without his lungs feeling like they were bursting with flames and he was gasping for air. He developed body dysmorphic disorder – he hated everything about the way that he looked. He avoided mirrors, crowds and family gatherings.

After watching a program about weight loss, Shaun made the decision to change and his journey began. He joined the United States Army where he was a squad leader with a focus on Crisis Management. Shaun went on to earn his Masters of Arts in Counseling at Regis University. He started his private practice, Fabled Counseling, to help Denver-based adults, children and families.

Shaun leads his clients on their road to success by developing treatment plans and strategies, personal narratives and spiritual awareness. His approach through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a compassionate journey involving a combination of understanding the self, problem resolution and working towards life goals.
